Toronto-based singer Serena Ryder has this catchy, crunchy tune called Stompa (which was featured in Grey's Anatomy) and I saw (but can't find again) a clip where she explained a bit about the video, which features a group of archers tattooed with respective symbols for the elements. The one representing water dips her arrow and lets it fly. The fire girl sets hers alight. I can't really tell what the wind and earth girls are doing. Wind's probably the one wearing feathers. None of them get the big win, even though they hit their targets. Which gives me a smirk, as they appear to be breaking records. As in vinyl. Then a cherubic yet terrifyingly serious little girl who embraces all the elements takes her shot and KAPOW! Harmony is the winning condition and - Wait! It's also the title of the album! (Hey, fun thing: DC comics has characters from the 70s called Female Furies, and members included Artemiz and Stompa, who shook the earth with her big boots. Maybe Stompa is the actually the name of the earth element in this video?)
When the Barenaked Ladies hit it big, fans all took to hauling boxes of Kraft Dinner at the stage. Wisely, BNL thought to collect them at the door for local food banks. Not to fear, Ms. Ryder: archers hate to lose their arrows, we dig safety and we're not a foolish lot, anyhow. But wouldn't it be fun to get tricked out like these elemental bowgirls for her show at the Danforth Music Hall? I admit, I've seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show a lotta lotta times but isn't it fun to imagine what archer/fans could do for audience participation? Quick now: she's got a show at the Danforth Music Hall on April 11;D
P.S. - Serena's manager very nicely said I could post the video but her label has it blocked, so ya gotta click!
