It's really cool that our star archers are people that you actually might see around - practising at a local range, giving a seminar at OCCS, working at Target Pro - and I thought it was rad when Vanessa Lee agreed to meet me to give me a little primer on being an archery fan. We went for a coffee. A little OMG is appropriate in this case, right? I'm kicking myself for not wrangling a stranger to take a picture of me and her. Actually, I think this is the one time in my life where I wish I had an autograph book.
Vanessa's on the Canadian National Archery Team but she swears she's first and foremost a fan, herself. After talking to her, I agree 100%. She had SO much to tell me that 1) there's no way I can capture it in one post and 2) I'm going to have to try stuff out for myself to really grasp what she was telling me. I mean, there's a lot to know but also multiple ways to follow the action - keeping up with score updates, or by watching it happen on the internet, or by actually being a spectator at a competition. Vanessa gave me the goods on how you do all of these things, and I don't want to leave any of it out. So let's make a little series of it, shall we? Say, every second week? It's a date!
