Glen made his own bow with parts from a plumbing supply store. Pretty cool. Specifically, it’s the kind they don’t put in new places. They just sell this stuff to repair older buildings.
He’s one of the survivalists I met a while back. He makes lots of stuff and it happens to be because the hours he keeps put his free time when there ain’t nobody else around. Which would make lots of people a little loco, but Glen gets right into all kinds of homemade projects: yogurt, lure retrievers, camping equipment, Konbucha (which is a fermented tea), and lots of other stuff including some of his own invention.
He got instructions for this bow online from a site called Backyard Bowyer. I took a poke around and there are some sweet-looking projects done on there. Glen says it was “Just like anything: it looks easier than it was but not very complicated.” I hear that, Glen.
Now, it was his first go at it and it made it through the summer but then it gave up the ghost on that particular day out. He’s planning to make another one, taking a little more time and building on what he learned the last time. You could say, it’s in the pipeline.
