Early in the day, we had the company of some gentlemen who've been using the public range for decades. They're just lovely guys and one of them comes out to take in the atmosphere even though he hasn't played in quite awhile. In my head, you can't talk about the public archery range without mentioning these guys and you really can't experience the place fully unless you have a good chat with them. Like a lot of us, they may not approach you but if you wind 'em up, they gab with the best of 'em.
Of course, most of us healthy eaters came to the range in the past few years as archery has really picked up steam - neither the old guard nor the newbies - and have brought a very social, interconnected vibe. This is one day where I don't bother too much about doing archery because I know the talk is going to be the real thing and everybody digs into it with as much gusto as we had for Tienchi's chicken satay.
