I read the GAMES 100 Christmas list to get ideas of things I'd like to try. I'd put a little checkmark beside the writeup for 'Morels' - a card game which simulates the experience of taking a forest stroll, collecting mushrooms. I searched for a video about it on YouTube. In the video, Brent the designer relates that Kaleen his wife/biz-partner in Two Lanterns Games threw him a Hobbit-themed mushroom-tasting for his birthday.
My brain exploderated. I. Am having. A Hobbit-themed party. I needed to steal their ideas. I was going to buy their game anyhow so I sent them an email that perchance reflected the late and silly hour at which I wrote it. And in their reply, I can likewise hear the tinkling laughter that went into the writing thereof. I suppose I had hit their giddy-button and they were flinging suggestions like Lars Anderson whips off arrows. Hair-embellished socks! Bubble pipes! I love these people!
Not only have they improved my life by mailing me a game I much look forward to playing and giving me a blueprint for A Completely Expected Party, when they saw my blog title, these lovely people were bursting to share the decoration of the entry to their baby girl's Robin Hood-themed nursery (Did your heart just grow three sizes, too?), and I will share it with you, in kind.
