See all these threads come together: One of my best buds is living in Edmonton. I want to focus all my travelling in Canada. The burlesque troupe I followed for ages rebanded to put on a show at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. Bang! I am so there. Heck, I'm even going to spend my days volunteering at the festival. I figure it's a great way to meet people and see the city from a unique perspective.
So I buy my ticket. Ticket bought. Surfing the interwebs. Oh WOW. The Canadian Nationals for archery are in Alberta. Not super close to Edmonton but not as far as Calgary. In August? Yes! Could it be fate? No! They are totally happening now and ending four days before I get there. I cannot even believe this. If I miss that, and nothing exciting happens on this trip, I'll go bananas. So, to prevent a slippery, potassiated mess, I begin to look in earnest for things to do and it turns out that there's a meetup group who just happens to be hosting an archery evening the second day I'm in town. Isn't that kooky?
Don't mistake me. I don't really think it's any special magic. Coincidence just means stuff happens together. No meaning attached at all. But, like, wow. Best of luck to our Toronto locals taking part in the Nationals, and if you're sticking around for awhile afterward, maybe we'll cross paths!
